Hensy Perez Duo

Hensy was born in Cali, Colombia. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in music education from University of Valle in Colombia and Master of Arts in Music Theory from City College. While at City College, Hensy studied jazz bass with Todd Cooleman and Ron Corter, and learned orchestration from David Deltredicci.

Hensy's education includes classical guitar at The Institute of Popular Culture of Cali and piano at University of Valle; as well as harmony, counterpoint and composition with Leon J. Simar. In addition, Hensy studied bass, harmony and Latin Jazz at Boy's Harbor Performing Arts Center.

Currently, Hensy is teaching guitar, bass, music theory and music reading at Brooklyn Queens Conservatory of Music and at an after-school program. Hensy has taught at several after-school programs throughout New York City. His past teaching experience includes leading instrument-making workshops, teaching music theory and reading, teaching guitar and conducting student Orchestra and chorus with children and adults in public and private schools in Cali and New York City.
