Jahwid is an acoustic cocktail of roots Reggae standards and original material, blending tastefully 3 part harmony, powerful bass lines...

Jahwid grew up surrounded by Jamaican music (Reggae, Rock Steady, Ska, Nayabingi) and was influenced by Bob Marley, Toots and the Maytals, Jacob Miller, Ethiopians, Gregory Isaac, etc...

He couldnt resist writing songs and learning different instruments (drums, guitar, bass, keyboard) in order to record his own compositions.

In 1998-1999, Jahwid started a Reggae band called Roots Vibration with the Jamaican singer/guitarist Farma Dread, whos also Ijahmans guitarist. They performed in France and Switzerland.

In 2001, he completed a home made recording, playing all the instruments and singing all the vocals.

Since he felt the need to be understood by as many people as possible, he started to write in English, which brought him to New York, wanting to improve his English and to be closer to the Reggae scene

A month after his arrival in New York, Jahwid started recording at HC&F Recording Studio, for the engineer Philip Smart who worked with Shaggy, Luciano, Shinehead and Buju Banton
